Advocating Change Together (ACT) is a St. Paul, Minnesota-based self-advocacy organisation founded in 1979 by and for people with disabilities, primarily those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. ACT operates the Self-Advocates of Minnesota (SAM) network, spanning 50 local self-advocacy groups across six regions of the state.
What They Do
ACT trains self-advocates to facilitate workshops, deliver public speeches, and participate meaningfully in policy-making and community decision-making. It produces accessible training curricula and educational materials on disability rights and self-determination, runs peer-led leadership development programmes, and advocates for the rights and full inclusion of people with developmental disabilities at community and state policy levels.

ACT serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Minnesota who want to speak up for themselves and others, develop leadership and advocacy skills, and participate actively in civic life and the decisions that affect them.
