The Arc of Alabama
The Arc of Alabama is the largest nonprofit in the state dedicated solely to advocating for the rights and needs of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, with a history dating to 1957. Supporting 29 local chapters and more than 4,000 members, The Arc of Alabama provides advocacy, education, and public policy leadership statewide.

Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Montgomery at 557 South Lawrence Street, The Arc of Alabama, Inc. is the state affiliate of The Arc of the United States — the nation's largest advocacy organisation for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Arc of Alabama supports a network of 29 local chapters spanning all regions of the state.
What They Do
The Arc of Alabama advocates for rights protections through state legislative initiatives, hosts the annual Alabama disAbility Conference, provides Information and Referral services connecting families to local supports, and builds public awareness about IDD issues. The organisation also coordinates cross-chapter training, membership development, and connects Alabama with national Arc advocacy campaigns.

The Arc of Alabama serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages — from children with early intervention needs to older adults — and the families who support them.
