The Arc of Washington
The Arc of Washington is the state affiliate of The Arc of the United States, advocating for the rights and full community participation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Washington State since 1936. Based in Olympia, the organisation supports nine county chapters and runs Advocacy Days each legislative session to bring the voices of Washingtonians with IDD directly to state lawmakers.
About
Founded in 1936 by parents of children with intellectual disabilities in Pierce and King Counties, The Arc of Washington has grown into a statewide grassroots network of individuals, families, service providers, and advocates. As an affiliate of The Arc of the United States, the organisation brings national resources and standards to Washington communities while remaining rooted in nine local county chapters.
What They Do
The Arc of Washington leads Advocacy Days during each legislative session — both in-person in Olympia and via virtual events accessible statewide — giving people with IDD and their families a direct voice in state policy. The organisation advocates for adequate state funding for residential, employment, education, and healthcare services and supports nine county chapters across Washington.
Who They Serve
The Arc of Washington serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages, along with their families and caregivers, through its Olympia headquarters and nine county chapters across Washington State.
