Organization
Autism Canada
Autism Canada is a national autistic-led charity providing education, advocacy, and community resources to support autistic individuals and their families across Canada. With at least half of its board and staff on the autism spectrum, Autism Canada advances policy reform, promotes neurodiversity acceptance, and connects Canadians to evidence-informed autism services and supports.
About
Formed in 2015 through the amalgamation of Autism Society Canada (est. 1976) and the Autism Canada Foundation (est. 2002), Autism Canada is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. The organization is notable for its autistic-led governance: at least 50% of board members and staff are on the autism spectrum, giving autistic voices direct control over programs and policy directions.
What They Do
Autism Canada delivers educational resources, community grants, a national service provider directory, caregiver support programs, and systemic policy advocacy. The organization hosts professional development events, publishes research summaries, and works to ensure autistic Canadians are represented in the national conversations that affect their lives across the lifespan.
Who They Serve
Autism Canada serves autistic individuals, their families, educators, and healthcare professionals across Canada. Programs address the full lifespan — from early childhood diagnosis and school transition through to adult employment, housing, and community inclusion.
