BAPID (Bulgarian Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, БАЛИЗ) is a national network of parent organisations that defends the right to a dignified and independent life for persons with intellectual disabilities and their families. Based in Sofia, BAPID works with local associations across the country to advocate for rights-based policy and practical support.

What They Do

BAPID advocates at national and local government level for policy that respects the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and supports their inclusion in society. The organisation has led projects on supported decision-making, creating support networks for 53 persons with intellectual disabilities across six regions of Bulgaria. BAPID also works on child protection issues in collaboration with international partners and is a member of Inclusion Europe.
