CHHA empowers individuals to communicate effectively and participate fully in all areas of life.
About
The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA) was established in 1982 and is headquartered at 75 Albert Street in Ottawa. As a consumer-driven self-help organisation governed by its membership, CHHA ensures all decisions reflect lived experience of hearing loss, making it the national voice of the estimated 4.6 million Canadians affected.
What They Do
CHHA delivers public awareness campaigns, advocates for captioning standards and assistive listening systems in public spaces, organises an annual national conference, and supports its provincial chapter network in providing local peer support and education programmes. CHHA produces plain-language publications for people navigating hearing loss at any stage of life and represents Canada's hard of hearing community in national and international policy forums.
Who They Serve
CHHA serves hard of hearing, deafened, and tinnitus-affected Canadians of all ages, as well as families, employers, and service providers seeking to build more hearing-accessible environments and workplace cultures.
