FENASCOL is Colombia's Deaf-led national federation, founded in 1984, representing 35+ associations of Deaf people. About
FENASCOL (Federación Nacional de Sordos de Colombia) was founded in January 1984 and is Colombia's primary Deaf-led advocacy and services organisation. With over 40 years of experience, it represents more than 35 associations of Deaf people across the country and is a member of the World Federation of the Deaf.
What They Do
FENASCOL promotes accessibility and the recognition of Colombian Sign Language (LSC), trains sign language interpreters and instructors, provides technical advisory services to public and private entities, and produces accessible audiovisual content. It was a key civil society actor in the legal recognition of LSC in Colombia and continues to monitor legislation affecting the Deaf community.
Who They Serve
FENASCOL serves the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community across Colombia — children, youth, and adults — through its network of 35+ member associations. It also serves hearing people who interact with the Deaf community, including families, interpreters, and employers, by providing sign language training and inclusion advisory support.
