About

The Fédération Nationale des Sourds de Côte d'Ivoire (FENASOCI) was founded in 1991 as ANASOCI and restructured as a national federation in 2025. Based in Abidjan, FENASOCI is the national representative body for deaf persons in Côte d'Ivoire, federating associations of deaf and hard-of-hearing people across the country and championing the recognition of Ivorian Sign Language (LSCI).

What They Do

FENASOCI promotes LSCI, trains sign language interpreters, produces LSCI educational resources, and advocates for the inclusion of deaf persons in education, employment, and civic life. The federation organises the International Week of Deaf Persons, lobbies for official LSCI recognition in government policy (the 'Déclaration de Dabou'), and works with schools to ensure deaf children receive quality accessible education. FENASOCI also advocates for deaf persons' right to access teaching professions.

Who They Serve

FENASOCI serves deaf and hard-of-hearing people of all ages across Côte d'Ivoire, as well as parents of deaf children, sign language learners, and interpreters. It engages educators, employers, and policymakers to build a more inclusive and linguistically accessible society.
