Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities(GCPD)
Indiana's federally mandated state council charged with advancing social and policy changes that lead to the meaningful inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life. GCPD funds innovative projects, provides grants, and advises the Governor and legislature on disability policy.
About
The Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities (GCPD) is a federally mandated state planning council established under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act. Housed within Indiana state government in Indianapolis, GCPD is composed of individuals with disabilities, family members, and state agency representatives.
What They Do
GCPD develops and implements a state plan for individuals with developmental disabilities, funds capacity-building and advocacy projects through competitive grants, produces policy reports and data resources, and hosts community engagement events across Indiana. The Council actively includes and amplifies the voices of self-advocates.
Who They Serve
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Indiana, their families and caregivers, state agencies, and community organisations working to expand inclusion and equity for Hoosiers with disabilities.
