The Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) was established in 1960 by a group of wheelchair users who believed in the right to live as equal and independent members of society. Headquartered at Áras Chúchulainn in Clontarf, Dublin, IWA is one of Ireland's largest social enterprises, providing over 2 million hours of service annually.
What They Do
IWA delivers personal assistant services that support independent living, operates community resource centres in 59 locations, manages 52 accessible social houses, runs a fleet of 119 accessible buses, and provides a respected para-sports programme. The association also advocates nationally on transport, housing, employment and social care policy for people with physical disabilities.
