One of North America's oldest and most comprehensive blindness organizations, founded in San Francisco in 1902, promoting independence, community, and equity for blind and low vision people. LightHouse provides rehabilitation, technology training, orientation and mobility, and community programs created by and with blind and low vision constituents.

About

Founded in 1902 in San Francisco, LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired has over a century of history serving blind and low vision individuals. Today it is one of the largest comprehensive blindness organizations in North America, headquartered at 1155 Market Street in San Francisco.

What They Do

LightHouse provides blind rehabilitation services, assistive technology training, orientation and mobility instruction, employment support, summer youth programs, peer mentorship, and community events. All programs are guided by the principle that blind and low vision people should lead the organization's work.
