Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council(LADDC)

A governor-appointed state council, LADDC develops and implements a multi-year plan to improve quality of life for Louisianans with developmental disabilities, with a strong emphasis on self-determination and community inclusion. It supports the LaCAN peer-advocacy network and funds community-level initiatives statewide.

About

The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (LADDC) is a governor-appointed state council funded through the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act. Its members include people with developmental disabilities, family members, and representatives from state agencies, ensuring that people with lived experience drive its agenda.

What They Do

LADDC develops and implements a multi-year State Plan to create systemic change in the supports and services available to Louisianans with developmental disabilities. It funds community initiatives and self-advocacy projects, operates the Louisiana Council's Advocacy Network (LaCAN), and engages in policy advocacy at the state and national levels to promote self-determination, integration, and equal opportunity.

LADDC serves Louisianans with developmental disabilities — including intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy — as well as their families and the organisations that support them, across all ages.
