Manzil Center
A Sharjah-based non-profit providing education, vocational training, and social inclusion programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the UAE. Founded in 2005, Manzil is a pioneer in community-based disability support in the Gulf.
About
Manzil Center was inaugurated on February 7, 2005 by Sheikha Jameela Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. Founded by Dr. Ayesha Saeed Husaini, the non-profit fills a critical gap in community-based services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the UAE. The name "Manzil" — meaning "home" in Arabic — reflects the organization's commitment to dignity, belonging, and community integration.
What They Do
Manzil offers early intervention, structured educational curricula, vocational skills training, e-learning platforms, and social support programs tailored for learners with cognitive disabilities from age four onwards. Employment programs connect graduates with partner employers, and consultancy services help other UAE organizations develop inclusive practices. The center also advocates for systemic change in how the UAE educational and employment sectors accommodate people with disabilities.
Who They Serve
The center serves children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and related conditions. Programs span across ability levels, from early childhood through adulthood. Manzil's employment and social programs specifically target adults who have completed educational phases and are ready for community and workforce integration.
