Michigan Disability Rights Coalition(MDRC)

A cross-disability, disabled-led nonprofit based in East Lansing that has partnered with individuals, families, and organisations for nearly four decades to foster disability pride and build fully inclusive Michigan communities. MDRC centres the voices of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities while serving all disability communities.

About

The Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) was founded on the principle of "Nothing About Us Without Us" and has operated for nearly 40 years as a peer-driven, cross-disability advocacy organisation. It is based in East Lansing and works statewide to advance the rights and full participation of people with disabilities.

What They Do

MDRC conducts advocacy and education, supports individuals and families in self-determination, operates an Assistive Technology lending library, and builds the political and economic capacity of local disability groups. The organisation provides resources, training, and technical assistance to strengthen community-led disability advocacy across Michigan.
