Michigan Disability Rights Coalition(MDRC)
The Michigan Disability Rights Coalition is a statewide disability-led nonprofit fostering disability pride and strengthening the disability movement across all 83 Michigan counties under the motto "Nothing About Us Without Us." It offers advocacy, leadership development, an assistive technology lending library, and peer support.
About
The Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) has operated under the motto "Nothing About Us Without Us" for nearly four decades, serving every county in Michigan. Based in East Lansing with staff distributed across the state, MDRC takes an intentional cross-disability approach that centres the voices of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside all other disability communities.
What They Do
MDRC provides disability pride and leadership programming, community advocacy, an Assistive Technology (AT) lending library, digital accessibility resources, and peer support. It also trains individuals, families, and organisations on disability rights, inclusive practices, and self-advocacy, and develops resources to increase access to content and leadership opportunities statewide.
Who They Serve
People with any disability across Michigan and their families — with particular emphasis on ensuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have meaningful leadership roles — as well as allied organisations seeking disability-competent training and partnerships.
