About
Founded in 1982 by a small group of people with disabilities in Northern Nevada, the Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living (NNCIL) operates on the belief that all individuals — regardless of disability severity — can grow, develop, and participate fully in society. The organisation is governed by a consumer-controlled Board of Directors whose members' lives have been directly affected by disability.
What They Do
NNCIL provides ADA education and consulting for businesses, agencies, and individuals; equipment loans (wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, and other assistive devices); social and recreational programmes promoting health, fitness, and community integration; information and referral; advocacy; and peer support. The centre serves as a community hub for disability resources across Northern Nevada.
Who They Serve
People of all ages and all disability types in the Reno–Sparks metro area and surrounding Northern Nevada communities, including rural areas with limited access to disability services.
