Opportunity Village
Opportunity Village is a Las Vegas nonprofit founded in 1954 by seven families committed to giving their children with intellectual disabilities the best possible lives, now serving thousands of adults annually through workforce development, day services, arts, housing, and community employment across four campuses. Nearly 70 percent of its funding comes from business contracts, donors, and signature fundraising events, making it one of the most self-sustaining disability service organisations in the United States.
About
Founded in 1954, Opportunity Village has grown from a small parent-led initiative into one of Nevada's largest disability service nonprofits. The organisation operates four main campuses and multiple thrift stores across Southern Nevada, serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through an integrated mix of earned-income business contracts and community philanthropy.
What They Do
Opportunity Village offers a wide spectrum of services: workforce development and community employment, day habilitation, arts and social recreation, residential support through the PRIDE and Enable programmes, and the iconic Magical Forest holiday fundraiser that helps sustain the organisation year-round. Each programme is designed to foster dignity, skill-building, and social connection.
Who They Serve
Opportunity Village serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the Las Vegas metropolitan area and wider Southern Nevada region, with a focus on people who face significant barriers to competitive employment and community participation.
