About
Founded in 1868, the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is the UK's largest charity for people with sight loss. In 2023 the organisation moved to the purpose-built Grimaldi Building on Pentonville Road, London — a fully accessible headquarters designed around the needs of people who are blind, partially sighted, or neurodivergent. RNIB has spent over 150 years working to break down barriers and ensure blind and partially sighted people can live the lives they choose.
What They Do
RNIB provides a national helpline, accessible reading services in Braille, large print, and audio, assistive technology guidance, and employment support. It funds scientific research into eye conditions and treatments, campaigns for better NHS eye health services, and advocates for accessible information, transport, and public spaces. The RNIB Bookshare lending library gives members access to hundreds of thousands of accessible titles.
