About
The Utah Developmental Disabilities Council (UDDC) is an independent, governor-appointed body established under the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act. Located in Salt Lake City, the Council includes representation from people with disabilities, family members, and state agency officials, and operates under the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.
What They Do
The UDDC advocates for systemic change by building relationships with state and federal policymakers, funding innovative community inclusion projects, and providing training and technical assistance to support self-advocacy. It develops and implements a five-year State Plan that guides advocacy priorities for Utahns with developmental disabilities.
Who They Serve
The UDDC serves Utahns with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the organisations and systems that support them. Its goal is to ensure that all Utahns with developmental disabilities can achieve inclusive, meaningful, and self-determined lives in their communities.
