About
The Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) was established by Law No. 2 of 2004 in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Named in honor of the UAE's founding president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the organization is one of the Gulf region's oldest and most comprehensive disability institutions. It operates under the Department of Community Development of Abu Dhabi.
What They Do
ZHO delivers services across eight specialized rehabilitation and training centers in Abu Dhabi. Programs include early childhood intervention, special education, speech and occupational therapy, psychological counseling, vocational training, and supported employment. The organization also advocates for disability-inclusive legislation and coordinates with government entities to remove societal barriers for people of determination.
Who They Serve
ZHO serves children and adults of all ages with physical, intellectual, developmental, and autism spectrum disabilities in Abu Dhabi. Services extend to families through counseling and parent education programs. The organization is a key resource for UAE nationals, residents, and their families navigating disability-related services within the emirate.
