About this resource

About

AccessText Network (ATN) is a service of the Association on Higher Education And Disability (AHEAD) that has processed over 65,000 publisher file requests since 2020. All post-secondary institutions in the United States and Canada are eligible to join at no cost.

What It Does

ATN acts as a conduit between college disability offices and higher-education publishers. When a student with a print disability (such as blindness, dyslexia, or a physical disability affecting reading) needs an accessible textbook, their campus disability office submits a request through the AccessText portal. Publishers respond with the original electronic file, which the office uses to produce braille, audio, large-print, or e-text versions tailored to the student's needs.

Who It Helps

College students with print disabilities including blindness, low vision, dyslexia, and physical disabilities that prevent standard print reading. Campus disability services offices across the US and Canada who coordinate accessible course material for enrolled students.
