by AHEAD
Founded in 1977, the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) is an international membership organisation that supports disability services professionals at colleges and universities. With thousands of members across North America, AHEAD has been the leading voice on access, accommodation, and inclusive higher education for nearly five decades.
AHEAD produces white papers, guidance documents, and webinars on accommodation practice, disability documentation standards, and ADA and Section 504 compliance in higher education. It hosts an annual conference, publishes the Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability, maintains a professional job board, and offers professional development pathways for disability services staff. Some resources are publicly accessible; full access to publications and member tools requires membership.
AHEAD directly serves disability services coordinators, counsellors, and higher education administrators. Its published standards and guidance documents directly influence the quality and consistency of accommodations available to all college students with disabilities at member institutions.
