About this resource

About

Founded in 1977, AHEAD (Association on Higher Education And Disability) is the premier professional organisation supporting equity for disabled individuals in higher education. Its membership spans disability resource professionals, student affairs personnel, ADA coordinators, diversity officers, AT and IT staff, and faculty, with 37 regional affiliate chapters.

What It Does

AHEAD delivers professional development through national conferences, workshops, webinars, and publications; maintains peer-reviewed assessment tools for campus disability services offices; disseminates data and evidence-based practices; and keeps members informed of legislative and regulatory changes affecting accessibility in higher education.

Who It Helps

Disability resource professionals, ADA coordinators, AT and IT staff, and faculty at colleges and universities. Students and families can also access publicly available guidance on AHEAD's website and benefit indirectly as campus professionals build stronger, more equitable services.
