About this resource

About

"Learn the Signs. Act Early." is a public-health programme from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designed to improve early identification of children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. All materials are available in English and Spanish and written in family-friendly language that avoids clinical jargon.

What It Does

The free Milestone Tracker app lets parents log developmental milestones with photos, watch instructional videos, and share progress reports directly with their paediatrician. Printed and digital checklists, tip sheets, and the comprehensive Milestone Moments booklet are available for free download. The programme also explains how parents can self-refer for a free early intervention evaluation under IDEA Part C without needing a physician referral.

Who It Helps

Parents and caregivers of children from birth through five years who want to track development or who have concerns about autism or developmental delays; also useful for paediatricians and childcare providers who conduct routine developmental surveillance.
