About this resource

About

Launched by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Learn the Signs. Act Early. is a national public health programme designed to improve early identification of developmental delays and disabilities — including autism spectrum disorder — by promoting family-engaged developmental monitoring alongside regular paediatric care.

What It Does

The programme provides illustrated milestone checklists at 11 age points from 2 months to 5 years, a free Milestone Tracker app (iOS and Android) in English and Spanish, and printable booklets in over 15 languages including Arabic, French, Haitian Creole, Simplified Chinese, Somali, and Vietnamese. The app includes photos, videos, developmental tips, and a sharable summary to bring to paediatric appointments. Posters and tip sheets are also available for healthcare providers.

Who It Helps

Parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers of children from birth to age five. Especially helpful for families whose children may have autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, or other developmental conditions, and for paediatricians seeking to support earlier referrals to early intervention.
