Developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under the "Learn the Signs. Act Early." initiative, the CDC Milestone Tracker app translates research-based developmental milestone guidance into an accessible, family-friendly mobile tool available in English and Spanish.
The app provides interactive illustrated checklists covering social, language, cognitive, and movement milestones for children 2 months through 5 years, with real photos and videos to help parents recognise each skill. It adjusts checklists for premature birth, generates shareable PDF summaries for doctors and early intervention providers, and sends reminders for recommended developmental screenings. When milestones are flagged as not yet achieved, the app provides guidance on next steps including how to contact a state early intervention programme.
Parents and caregivers of infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children — especially those concerned about developmental delays — and paediatric healthcare providers who use it as a prompt for developmental surveillance conversations.
