About this resource

About

Founded in 2016, the College Autism Network (CAN) is now housed within the Frist Center for Autism and Innovation at Vanderbilt University. Operating with a three-part mission of research, training, and advocacy, CAN has hosted annual national summits and trained thousands of post-secondary professionals at hundreds of institutions across the United States.

What It Does

CAN publishes a free, searchable national database of autism-specific college support programmes for prospective students and families. It also offers the Autism Career Empowerment (ACE) free online curriculum for career services professionals, produces research and practice briefs, and organises the annual College Autism Summit linking practitioners, researchers, self-advocates, and employers.

Who It Helps

Autistic college students and their families researching campus support programmes, and higher education professionals — including disability services staff, career centres, and faculty — who want evidence-based strategies for supporting autistic students from enrolment through graduation and career entry.
