About this resource

About

Founded in 2011 by three college students with disabilities, DREAM (Disability Rights, Education, Activism, and Mentoring) is the only national network created and run by students with disabilities specifically for the higher education context. Sponsored by AHEAD and supported by the NCCSD, DREAM has grown to campus chapters and affiliate organisations across the United States.

What It Does

DREAM hosts the annual Disabled and Proud student-led conference, runs monthly Mentor Monday webinars pairing students with disabled professionals, publishes the DREAMzine, and distributes a weekly higher-education disability newsletter. Campus chapters organise local activism, peer support, and social events; national online membership is open to any student with a disability at any institution.

Who It Helps

College students with any type of disability or chronic condition, culturally Deaf students, and nondisabled allies who seek community, peer mentoring, and a platform for disability rights advocacy in higher education settings.
