About this resource

About

The Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC) is maintained by the Administration for Children and Families within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and is the primary online resource for Head Start and Early Head Start programmes that collectively serve over one million children annually from birth to age five.

What It Does

ECLKC hosts thousands of free resources covering disability services, early childhood mental health, family partnerships, school readiness, nutrition, and programme management. The Disabilities and Mental Health section provides practical guidance for identifying and serving children with disabilities under IDEA, coordinating with Part C early intervention services, implementing inclusive classroom practices, and partnering effectively with families of children with complex developmental needs.

Who It Helps

Head Start and Early Head Start programme directors, disability service coordinators, family services staff, and early childhood educators, as well as parents enrolled in Head Start whose children may have or be at risk for developmental delays or disabilities.
