About this resource

About

Eye to Eye is a national non-profit founded in 1998 on the principle that the best mentors for kids with learning disabilities are young people who share those same experiences. Operating college campus chapters across the United States, Eye to Eye has grown into a national movement with over 150 school partnerships and more than 1,350 mentees supported each week.

What It Does

Eye to Eye chapter members—college students with learning disabilities and ADHD—use a structured, arts-based curriculum to meet weekly with middle school mentees who share similar labels. Through creative projects and honest conversation, mentors share coping strategies, self-advocacy techniques, and personal stories that help mentees see their differences as strengths. College students can start or lead a chapter at their institution, gaining leadership experience while building community. Programme participation is free for both mentors and mentees.

Who It Helps

Eye to Eye serves two groups simultaneously: middle school students with learning disabilities and ADHD who gain mentors who genuinely understand their experiences, and college students with LD/ADHD who develop leadership skills and find belonging in a community that values neurodiversity. Both groups build stronger self-advocacy and disability identity through the programme.
