About this resource

About

Developed by Lifeward (formerly ReWalk Robotics), the ReWalk Personal Exoskeleton was the first wearable exoskeleton cleared by the FDA for personal home use for individuals with spinal cord injuries. The ReWalk 7, launched in 2025, is the latest generation and includes a smartwatch display, a MyReWalk app for goal tracking, and improved crutch controls.

What It Does

The ReWalk system provides powered hip and knee motion, enabling users with thoracic and lumbar SCI to stand, walk, turn, and navigate stairs with forearm crutches. The companion MyReWalk app lets users set mobility goals, track progress, and share data with their rehabilitation team. Medicare coverage began 1 January 2024, significantly expanding access.

Who It Helps

Adults with motor-complete spinal cord injuries at levels T4–L5 who meet clinical criteria for exoskeleton use. The personal version is for home and community use and requires certified training through a clinician partner site before personal dispensing.
