About this resource

About

The National Disability Institute (NDI) is a nonprofit dedicated to building a better economic future for people with disabilities and their families. Its Financial Resilience Center was developed to address the significant wealth and financial inclusion gap experienced by the disability community, particularly as it intersects with employment decisions and benefit management.

What It Does

The Center provides downloadable financial wellness toolkits, budget worksheets, guides to ABLE accounts, and plain-language explanations of how earned income affects SSI and SSDI benefits. Through its American Dream Employment Network (ADEN), NDI also functions as an Employment Network under the SSA Ticket to Work programme, offering employment planning support alongside financial counselling.

Who It Helps

Adults with disabilities — particularly those receiving SSI or SSDI — who need financial literacy support to make informed decisions about returning to work, navigating benefit transitions, and building long-term financial stability.
