About this resource

About

Established in December 2015 with U.S. Department of Education funding, the National Center for College Students with Disabilities (NCCSD) is based at the Institute on Community Integration at the University of Minnesota and closely partners with AHEAD. It is one of the few federally funded centres specifically addressing all disability types in the higher education context.

What It Does

NCCSD maintains a Resource Clearinghouse with publications on accommodation, self-advocacy, mental health, and career transition; the CeDaR database of disability resource offices at nearly every degree-granting US college and university; and a Training Centre with on-demand mini-courses and webinars. It also supports the DREAM national peer-mentoring network and distributes a weekly newsletter on disability in higher education.

Who It Helps

Current and prospective college students with any disability or chronic condition — including mental health challenges — as well as graduate students, disability resource professionals, and campus administrators seeking evidence-based practices to improve disabled student success.
