About this resource

About

The Ticket to Work program is administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and is available to people receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) who want to work. The program's website, Choose Work (choosework.ssa.gov), offers tools, a service provider finder, and stories from beneficiaries who have successfully returned to work.

What It Does

Ticket to Work connects participants to free employment services from approved Employment Networks (ENs) or State Vocational Rehabilitation agencies, including career counseling, vocational training, job placement, and ongoing job retention support. A benefits counseling feature helps beneficiaries understand exactly how working will affect their monthly payments, and a Help Line staffed by specialists is available Monday through Friday.

Who It Helps

Adults ages 18–64 who receive SSDI or SSI benefits and want to explore employment options. The program is completely voluntary and free, and joining does not trigger a disability review.
