About this resource

About

The Transition Coalition is a project of the University of Kansas Department of Special Education and a core partner of the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition: The Collaborative (NTACT:C), funded by the U.S. Departments of Education and Rehabilitation Services Administration. Since the early 2000s it has developed free professional development resources grounded in research on post-school outcomes for students with disabilities.

What It Does

Transition Coalition offers self-paced online learning modules covering transition assessment, employment planning, interagency collaboration, self-determination, and evidence-based practices for post-school success. Short courses provide time-limited follow-up coaching for practitioners implementing new strategies, while downloadable toolkits and study guides help school teams audit and improve their secondary special education and transition programmes.

Who It Helps

While primarily designed for special educators, vocational rehabilitation counsellors, and families, Transition Coalition directly benefits transition-age youth with disabilities — typically ages 14–21 — by equipping their support networks with research-based tools to improve post-school employment, education, and community participation outcomes.
