Ability Montana is a Centre for Independent Living based in Helena, Montana, with roots going back to 1980 when disability advocates began organising in southwest Montana. It became a federally funded 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1981 and today serves 14 counties across southwest Montana including Gallatin, Lewis and Clark, Silver Bow, and surrounding areas.

What They Do

Ability Montana delivers the five core Independent Living services: information and referral, independent living skills training, peer mentoring, individual and systems advocacy, and transition services. The organisation assists people moving out of nursing homes and other institutions into community settings and advocates for accessible, inclusive communities across the state.

Who They Serve

Ability Montana serves people with all types of disabilities in southwest Montana who want to gain or maintain independence in their homes and communities. Services are consumer-directed and provided at no cost.
