Ability360
Ability360 is Arizona's largest Center for Independent Living, founded in Phoenix in 1977 as a grassroots disability-rights organization and now serving consumers across Maricopa, Pima, Pinal, and Gila counties. Consumer-controlled and community-based, it offers peer support, personal care, home modification, employment services, and ADA training for people with disabilities pursuing self-determined, independent lives.
About
Ability360 traces its roots to 1977 when a group of Phoenicians with diverse physical disabilities formed the Arizona Congress for Action (ACA) to educate their community about disability issues. Receiving funding in 1981, the organization grew into Arizona's largest Center for Independent Living, with offices in Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Glendale, and Coolidge and more than 130 staff members.
What They Do
Ability360 delivers the five core IL services — peer support, information and referral, independent living skills training, advocacy, and transition — alongside specialized programs including a robust personal care attendant network, home and vehicle modification assistance, ADA compliance consulting, early intervention for newly disabled individuals, and employment support. It connects individuals with more than 1,500 personal care attendants statewide.
Who They Serve
Adults and youth with physical, sensory, cognitive, or neurological disabilities in Maricopa, Pima, Pinal, and Gila counties, with particular emphasis on people newly adjusting to disability, those leaving institutional settings, and individuals seeking supported employment.
