Organization
AIFO Liberia
AIFO Liberia is a professional non-profit health and development organisation delivering community-based inclusive development, rehabilitation, and vocational skills programmes for persons with disabilities and leprosy-affected people in Liberia. Its EU-funded Coordinated Action on Disability in Liberia programme operates across Monrovia and three additional counties.
About
AIFO Liberia is the Liberian arm of the Italian NGO Associazione Italiana Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO), which has worked in Liberia since 1997 — initially providing relief to persons with disabilities displaced by the civil war. It has since evolved into a full community-based inclusive development (CBID) programme, partnering with local DPOs and the National Commission on Disabilities.
What They Do
AIFO Liberia implements the Coordinated Action on Disability in Liberia (CAD-L) programme (2021–2026), funded by the EU and the Swedish government, focusing on economic empowerment and advocacy for persons with disabilities. It delivers vocational skills training (including for deaf and hard-of-hearing youth), supports physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, promotes inclusive education, and strengthens the capacity of local DPOs. A "Voices for Inclusion" project provided skills training for deaf persons in partnership with Oscar Romero School for the Deaf.
Who They Serve
Persons with physical disabilities, deaf and hard-of-hearing people, and leprosy-affected individuals in Monrovia, Bong, Nimba, and Bomi counties.
