The American Association of People with Disabilities, founded in 1995, is the nation's largest cross-disability rights and services organisation. Governed by and for people with disabilities, AAPD is headquartered in Washington, DC and focuses on increasing the political and economic power of the disability community.

What They Do

AAPD runs the REV UP (Register! Educate! Vote! Use your Power!) national voter registration and civic engagement campaign, operates the AAPD Summer Internship Program connecting students with disabilities to congressional offices and federal agencies, and advocates for disability employment, independent living, and equal opportunity through federal policy channels.
