Appalachian Center for Independent Living(ACIL)
The Appalachian Center for Independent Living is a consumer-controlled centre for independent living that empowers West Virginians with disabilities of all ages to live independently and participate fully in their communities. Based in Charleston, ACIL provides core independent living services, mobility equipment loans, and wheelchair ramp construction across central West Virginia.

The Appalachian Center for Independent Living (ACIL) is one of West Virginia's federally designated centres for independent living, headquartered at 4710 Chimney Drive in Charleston. Upholding the independent living philosophy — that people with disabilities are the best decision-makers about their own lives — ACIL has served central West Virginia for decades.
What They Do
ACIL offers individual and systems advocacy, information and referral, peer support, housing assistance, wheelchair ramp construction, manual and power wheelchair loans, attendant care lists, independent living skills training, and community transition services for individuals moving from rehabilitation or long-term care facilities back into community living.

ACIL serves West Virginians of all ages with physical, sensory, cognitive, or psychiatric disabilities, providing in-person services in the greater Charleston area and statewide information, referral, and advocacy support.
