Romanian National Disability Council(CNDR)
The Romanian National Disability Council (CNDR) is the national federation representing persons with disabilities in Romania, established in 2004 at the request of the European Commission as a requirement for EU accession. CNDR brings together representative national disability organisations to advocate for rights, anti-discrimination, and inclusive policy across Romania.
About
Consiliul Național al Dizabilității din România (CNDR) was constituted in April 2004 as a non-profit, non-governmental federation of national disability organisations, supported by the European Disability Forum. It operates the website fcndr.ro and is headquartered in Bucharest. CNDR is a full EDF member and advocates under the principle "Nothing About Us Without Us."
What They Do
CNDR engages in legislative consultations, monitors Romania's CRPD implementation, produces policy positions on behalf of the disability community, and liaises with Romanian government bodies and the European Disability Forum. The council also raises public awareness on disability rights and supports member organisations in disability advocacy capacity building.
Who They Serve
CNDR serves people with all types of disabilities across Romania through its member organisations, providing a unified national platform for disability rights advocacy, policy influence, and international representation.
