About

The Romanian National Disability Council (Consiliul Național al Dizabilității din România, CNDR) was founded in 2004 at the request of the European Commission as a condition for Romania's EU accession. It is a non-profit, non-governmental, humanitarian federation composed of representative national organisations for the protection and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities.

What They Do

CNDR defends the common rights and legitimate interests of all persons with disabilities in Romania by engaging with government ministries, monitoring national disability legislation, submitting policy proposals, and participating in European-level advocacy through its EDF membership. The council operates under the principle "Nimic despre noi, fără noi" — Nothing about us, without us.

Who They Serve

Persons with all types of disabilities across Romania, their families, and the national organisations working in the disability field.
