Portugal's national confederation representing 41 organisations of people with all types of disabilities, founded in 1980. CNOD serves as Portugal's representative to the European Disability Forum and advocates for the full rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in Portuguese society.
About
CNOD (Confederação Nacional de Organizações de Pessoas com Deficiência) was established in 1980 and has since been the principal national confederation for disability organisations in Portugal. Based in Lisbon, it encompasses physical, motor, sensory, intellectual, and organic disabilities.
What They Do
CNOD advocates for a national disability strategy, participates in government advisory bodies, and contributes to Portugal's periodic UN CRPD review process as part of the independent monitoring mechanism. It produces policy positions and coordinates member organisations around shared legislative priorities.
Who They Serve
The confederation serves people with all disability types across Portugal through its 41 member organisations, and represents their collective interests in the national Economic and Social Council, the Commission on Disability Inclusion Policies, and at European level through the EDF.
