Coalition of Texans with Disabilities(CTD)
The Coalition of Texans with Disabilities is the oldest and largest cross-disability advocacy organisation in Texas, working to ensure people with disabilities can work, live, learn, and fully participate in the community of their choice. CTD leads legislative advocacy, public awareness campaigns, and the Capitol Care Consumer Directed Services attendant programme statewide.
About
Founded in 1978, the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities (CTD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the premier consumer-controlled, cross-disability voice in Texas state policy. CTD represents individuals across every disability type and works at the intersection of advocacy, public awareness, and direct services.
What They Do
CTD focuses on legislative advocacy during and between Texas' biennial sessions, professional disability consulting, public awareness initiatives, and the Future Leaders Advocacy Corps that trains the next generation of Texas disability rights advocates. CTD also administers Capitol Care, a Consumer Directed Services programme supporting Medicaid attendant care for Texans with disabilities.
Who They Serve
CTD serves all Texans with disabilities — physical, sensory, cognitive, psychiatric, chronic, and rare conditions — along with their families and allies, providing advocacy tools, policy resources, and a statewide community network.
