National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities of Peru(CONFENADIP)
CONFENADIP is Peru's primary cross-disability DPO confederation, comprising 22 federations and over 200 grassroots organisations. It submitted the country's first DPO-led alternative CRPD report to the UN Committee in 2011 and serves as the national voice for persons with disabilities in public policy engagement.
About
CONFENADIP (Confederación Nacional de Personas con Discapacidad del Perú) is a non-profit civil association formed by federations and organisations of persons with disabilities across Peru. The confederation represents persons with all types of disabilities in both urban and rural zones, from Lima to the country's interior regions.
What They Do
CONFENADIP coordinates national disability advocacy, promotes policies and development plans for labour, economic, and social inclusion, and provides professional training for its member organisations. In 2011 it led a coalition of Peruvian DPOs to submit the country's first civil society–led alternative report to the UN CRPD Committee, directly influencing committee recommendations to the Peruvian government. The confederation engages regularly with CONADIS (the state body for disability policy) and parliamentary committees.
Who They Serve
CONFENADIP serves persons with all types of disabilities throughout Peru, across urban and rural contexts. Its 22 federated organisations cover the full spectrum of impairment types, giving particular voice to persons with disabilities in regions outside Lima who face additional barriers of poverty and geographic isolation.
