About

Formed on 31 March 2012, COPHCI arose from disabled people's desire to present a unified front to the Ivorian government. It coordinates six disability-specific federations and two specialist movements representing the full spectrum of impairments, and serves as Côte d'Ivoire's principal civil society interlocutor on disability policy.

What They Do

COPHCI leads policy advocacy for disability-inclusive public-sector hiring under Côte d'Ivoire's derogatory recruitment rules, conducts community education workshops, and liaises with the national human rights commission (CNDH). It mobilises members around campaigns for improved social protection and accessible urban infrastructure.

Who They Serve

All persons with disabilities in Côte d'Ivoire, with particular focus on those experiencing intersecting poverty and social exclusion and on ensuring disabled people's voices reach the highest levels of government.
