Confédération des Organisations des Personnes Handicapées de Côte d'Ivoire(COPHCI)
Established in 2012, COPHCI is the leading national confederation of disability organisations in Côte d'Ivoire, uniting nine federations to speak with a single voice on disability rights. It advocates for legal reform, social inclusion, and employment access for persons with disabilities.
About
COPHCI (Confédération des Organisations des Personnes Handicapées de Côte d'Ivoire) was founded on 31 March 2012 in Abidjan. Born from the desire of persons with disabilities to negotiate collectively, the confederation brings together nine federations representing different disability types under one umbrella structure.
What They Do
COPHCI engages in advocacy with government ministries, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), and the private sector to push for innovative solutions to the social exclusion of persons with disabilities. The confederation lobbied the Youth Employment Agency to create a dedicated desk for people with disabilities, and campaigns for accessible transport, education, and healthcare.
Who They Serve
COPHCI serves persons with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities across Côte d'Ivoire, as well as their families and member associations throughout the country.
