Disability Federation of Ireland(DFI)
The Disability Federation of Ireland is the national umbrella body representing over 100 voluntary disability organisations in Ireland, advancing rights, inclusion, and equality for people with all types of disabilities through collective advocacy, policy development, and capacity-building. It uses the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as its guiding framework for systemic change.
About
The Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI) serves as the national support and advocacy network for voluntary disability organisations throughout the Republic of Ireland. Representing over 100 member organisations and, collectively, hundreds of thousands of people with disabilities, DFI amplifies the disability sector's voice in national and EU policy discussions and promotes full UNCRPD implementation in Irish law.
What They Do
DFI develops disability policy positions and advocates with government departments and the Oireachtas, provides capacity-building support and governance training to member organisations, produces research papers and policy submissions, and coordinates the sector's engagement with national strategies such as the Roadmap for Social Inclusion. It convenes sector-wide learning events and represents Irish disability organisations in European and international networks.
Who They Serve
Voluntary disability organisations across Ireland and, through collective advocacy, the full spectrum of people with physical, sensory, intellectual, mental health, chronic, and hidden disabilities of all ages.
