About
The Disability Rights Center of Kansas (DRC), formerly known as Kansas Advocacy and Protective Services, is the Governor-designated Protection and Advocacy system for Kansas, headquartered in Topeka. DRC holds federal authority to investigate abuse and neglect in settings serving Kansans with disabilities and to pursue free legal advocacy on their behalf.
What They Do
DRC attorneys and advocates provide free representation in cases involving the ADA, Section 504, the Fair Housing Act, the Federal Medicaid Act, and Kansas state disability law. Service areas include employment discrimination, housing access, Medicaid rights, special education, community integration, and abuse in care settings. DRC also offers information, referral, and self-advocacy support to help individuals understand and assert their rights.
Who They Serve
Kansans of any age with any disability — physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory, or chronic — facing rights violations, discrimination, or unlawful denial of services or community access, without income restrictions.
