About

Disability Rights Texas (DRTx) is the federally mandated protection and advocacy (P&A) agency for people with disabilities in Texas. Created by Congress to ensure people with disabilities are safe from abuse, neglect, and discrimination, DRTx has been safeguarding Texan rights since the 1970s.

What They Do

DRTx provides free legal representation, information, referrals, and advocacy services statewide. The organisation investigates allegations of abuse and neglect, pursues policy change, and helps individuals exercise their legal right to be included in community life — including education, employment, healthcare, and housing.

Who They Serve

DRTx serves Texans of all ages who have physical, cognitive, psychiatric, sensory, or other disabilities. Services are free of charge and available across the state through multiple offices.
