About
The Disability Organizations Joint Front (DOJF) was established in 2001 as the umbrella body of organisations of persons with disabilities in Sri Lanka. Headquartered at No. 33, Raja Mawatha, Ratmalana, it is registered under the Voluntary Social Organization Act No. 31 of 1980 and recognised by the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities as a national DPO federation. With 35 member organisations, DOJF represents the full spectrum of disability across Sri Lanka's nine provinces.
What They Do
DOJF advocates jointly for the protection and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities, working toward a barrier-free and inclusive Sri Lanka. It engages with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, Parliament, and UN treaty bodies — submitting parallel reports to the CRPD Committee and the Universal Periodic Review. DOJF coordinates member organisations' positions on proposed disability legislation, monitors government action plans, and builds the advocacy capacity of provincial DPO affiliates.
Who They Serve
DOJF serves persons with all types of disabilities throughout Sri Lanka, channelling the concerns of grassroots disabled people through its member network. It gives particular attention to women with disabilities, persons in conflict-affected areas, and disabled people facing compounded social exclusion. Its policy work ultimately benefits Sri Lanka's estimated one million persons with disabilities by advocating for more effective legal protections, accessible environments, and rights-based services.
